The Silent City

Last Sunday it was the perfect day to dress up and enjoy a lovely day in the old capital city of the island, Mdina. So I rummaged around in my closet and came up with this outfit, perfect for a sunny day, and comfortable against a bit of chilly wind.

I heart Paris

This entry is dedicated to the most beautiful city on earth, Paris. Since I was a child I was fascinated by Paris and my love grew deeper when I first heard Edith Piaf's, La Vie en Rose. And when I finally landed in the city of my dreams, I felt I was home. It's full of life, elegance and most of all romance. You will not just feel it, you can touch it.

And so for Valentine's Day I wish all of you to find the little Paris in your life.

The Perfect Accessory

Who doesn't love the lovely tinkling sound of a charm bracelet or the way the perfect earrings make your eyes sparkle? And what about that handbag with the most uncommon design or that belt that perfectly sinches your waist? Let's face it girls, accessories are never over-rated too much. In fact, sometimes, they not only compliment the outfit, they make your outfit. And everyone has his weaknesses. For example, I am not an avid collector of jewelry, I have my favourite pieces and dress them around my outfits. My weakness lies in bags and shoes and scarves. And when winter comes, I pull out my lovely collection of hats and French style berets: I love the old Parisienne look, a look I nurtured through ad nauseum reruns of Audrey Hepburn's Sabrina. It's classic, it's elegant, but most of all it's comfy.

Back to the perfect accessory. Sometimes it's easy to put on the first thing you find and rush out. However, as the great artists will tell you, perfection can only be achieved if you take care of the details. And that is how you should look at accessories, details that make a good outfit perfect. Of course, one has to keep in mind the do's and dont's, as it is easy to turn a fashion statement into a fashion faux pas.

I always accessories according to what I'm wearing. If I have a busy top, say with big prints or loud colours, I try to keep it at a minimum. I have a motto for this - more with less and less with more. If you are wearing a simple outfit, with no patterns and nothing too extravagant you could afford wearing an over the top piece of jewelry or a nice colourful scarf. It's a question of balancing the two together.

This season's craze on the red carpet was the huge chandelier earrings. Personally, I love them, however I don't wear them because I have small face and I feel they are too overpowering for me. If you have a good hairstyle, preferably pulled away from the face, you'll be the envy of every girl. These type of earrings may turn a drab t-shirt and jeans into a va-va-voom outfit.

Kate Beckinsale

My craze at the moment is big rings. I love big rings. I am a 5 ft 2, UK size 6 and the only big thing which I can wear and doesn't make me look like a girl trying her mummy's shoes are big rings. And so I am in the quest for the perfect ring. I wish I could be hunting for THE RING (with the huge princess cut-stone) but my boyfriend seems to think that the engagement ring is not important and I'll get it on the eve of my wedding day. So for now I have to content myself with other sorts of rings. I bought a ring at the end of last year and I adore it. It's like a mosaic of mother of pearl and the pale pastel colors make it ideal for the impending spring clothes. Apart from that it has quite an art-deco vintage feel to it.

This brings me to the end of today's post. Hope you find it useful.

A day by the Sea

Wearing Accesorise Beret, H&M Jacket, Miss Sixty Jeans, Blanco Leopard pumps and Just Cavalli Bag

There's nothing better than to spend a day in one of the world's most gorgeous natural harbors in the world, Vittoriosa. So I put on my most comfy jeans, some warm accesorize and drove down to the harbour. And here are some pictures of my lovely island.

Making sense out of chaos

This year I have resolved; I will clean up my act. I can't stand opening my wardrobe with the fear I will be avalanched by all my clothes. So I decided I need to organize my space. And what better way to do this then to create a custom made spreadsheet. I know to some of you it mind sound insane, I thought so too at first, but don't stars take polariods of their outfits? And so I have a spreadsheet of my outfits. It is quite simple, I listed all the probabilities and possibilities of combining an outfit.

And guess what, it turned out to be a fantastic idea! Usually I panic when I have to go out either with friends, or for a lunch, but major crises alarm bells start blurring in the weekend. What the hell am I going to wear? I can't find those jeans that go with that top that go with those shoes. My lovely short boots seem to have disappeared therefore I have to change my whole apparel again; trying to decipher through the pile of clothes what can possibly go with what... and then oh look I found that skirt I bought two years ago and it still has the label on. Yes my friends, that is the whole shameful truth. But not any more; I have been enlightened and this system has proven to be my new me survival kit.

Now all I have to do is look at one piece of clothing, find it in the list and see the whole range of options that can be easily matched and make sense together. And this has made by life easier (in the clothing department I mean - I am not that shallow :P). That mes amies is the perfect way to organize a wardrobe. I hope you find this tip useful.
